3 Tips for Starting an At-Home Yoga Practice

Going to the studio and being able to practice is wonderful. The class is already set out for you, you just listen to the cues and flow. Sometimes, though, time and life just doesn't always allow the time to get to the studio and there are so many benefits of starting an at home yoga practice that I really encourage everyone to give it a try, especially with our 31 Day Yoga Challenge under way!


1. Find "Your Place": Find a good place in your home to practice away from distractions. My biggest issue with my home practice is I tend to find other things to do instead of practicing if I don't focus. So finding a place that may be secluded from external distractions or maybe the only place you have is your living room. It doesn't matter just find a place that is perfect for you and you feel comfortable in. Maybe add essential oils to a diffuser or light a candle, make this your special place!


2. No Judgement Zone: You don't have to know everything there is to know about yoga because realistically- I don't think that anyone will. It's all about taking the time to get on your mat and move your body. Whether you take 10, 20, 45 minutes to practice just really focus on moving your body organically and see how it feels!


3. Use your Resources: If you really don't feel that you're in a place to take on your home practice on your own, find a yogi on YouTube that really resonates with your style of yoga and what you are looking for in your practice or just learn Sun Salutation A and/or B and do that a few times to start until you want to move on. There are a plethora of books, online resources, magazines, and even Pinterest boards that you can use to form your at-home practice!
